Technical Institute

What are technical institutes?

A technical institute, sometimes called an institute of technology or a polytechnic institute, is a school that offers education focused on research and vocational training. Students taking courses at a technical institute prepare for careers that are based on practical applications and include on-the-job training. Programs might lead to careers in computer science, electronics, drafting, medical information technology, business and health sciences. Courses in these programs are specifically designed to prepare students for the workforce and often do not include academic classes in general education or the humanities.

Technical institutes offer training at both at the high school and college levels. At a technical institute, a student can earn a degree, diploma or certificate of credit. College-level programs may lead to undergraduate degrees.

Minimum Requirements for Technical Institute:

-Specific requirements vary per technical institute so it is highly encouraged that you explore the specific websites to get a better idea of what the admission requirements are.

-Federal student aid may not be offered for covering the expenses at a technical institute as they are independent systems from public schools and therefore, have their own funding. However, technical institutes provide their own financial assistance and scholarships to their students so it is highly recommended that you apply for their own financial aid.

Universal Technical Institute (UTI):

UTI is the most common technical institute our students have applied to in the past. For more information on applying for UTI, click here.  Links to an external site.
