This workshop provided an overview of the DesignPlus sidebar function and discussed examples and use cases for making content interactive for students.

Use PlayPosit to engage students in video lectures

This workshop featured two Yuba College faculty highlighting the use of the interactive video tool, PlayPosit, in English and Anthropology courses.

Hands-on with Student Interaction Tools in Canvas

This workshop provided an opportunity to see a variety of tools from the student point of view, including: small group discussions, the group collaboration space, class Collaborations, and peer review.

Engagement Strategies for Synchronous Online Classes

This workshop featured resources from @ONE's professional development short course. Learn how to strategically use Zoom tools for active learning and foster inclusion in your sessions.

Build a Liquid Syllabus

This workshop gets you hands-on with Google Sites to begin development of a mobile-friendly, humanizing course welcome website.

Elevate your online course with student feedback opportunities

This workshop focuses on criteria A11 and C8 of the CVC-OEI Course Design Rubric.

Canvas Studio

This training supports faculty in learning about and beginning to use Canvas Studio, an easy-to-get-started-with tool that can have a big impact on teaching and learning in online courses.

Accessible Home Page & Course Orientation Module

This workshop provided examples of easy-to-adopt models of effective and accessible home pages. We also looked at an example course orientation module and discussed guidelines from the YC DE Committee.

Canvas Speed Dating Padlet

In this workshop we used a couple of Padlet boards to explore some favorite Canvas tools and tricks to help make online teaching easier.

Fall 2022 Online Learning Quick-Talks Series

8 "quick-talk" sessions were held through the course of the semester. The resources for the topics were archived and some sessions were recorded.

Hands-on with HTML

This workshop introduced 5 easy-to-apply style elements to jazz up Canvas pages.

Instructional Videos & PlayPosit

This workshop provided an overview of the video recording options available to instructors and tips for effective videos. We also discussed the big picture and benefits of PlayPosit with some how-to time spent on creating interactive video activities and assigning them in Canvas.

Objectives & Assessment

This workshop focused on criteria A1-A3 and C1-C4 of the OEI Rubric.

Canvas Pages

This workshop provided how-to tech details and instructional design considerations for using Pages in Canvas.

Self-Assessment: OEI Rubric Common Trouble Spots

This workshop highlighted a few criteria from each section of the rubric (A-D) for discussion about common reasons for an "incomplete" rating in course review, and best practices & tips for being aligned or exemplary.
